Happy Holidays!

I am sinking into the big chair, loving the quietness of our country getaway now more than ever. You guessed it... The wood stove on my right is on blast, and there is a remote, a snack and the telephone to my left. Everything I need to call this my happy place. Man, does Christmas take a lot out of a person! Running here and there for last minute buys, visiting with friends and family, dinner parties and late nights... Not to mention the hangovers... Fun, but so exhausting!

I had a lovely Christmas. Always do! Christmas Eve is always spent at BF's family home exchanging gifts and eating, eating, and eating. BF's Mama made us an adorable collage of photos of both of us as children, and together his whole gang gave us his and her pool ques for our table at home. Afterwards, we made a quick stop at my Mom and Dad's but kept home where for the first time ever, we had our very own tree in our very own house. It was late when we got home, but that didn't stop us from having a romantic evening exchanging gifts and watching a 1am showing of The Sound of Music. G surprised me with a beautiful blue guitar, and I can't put it down. I've been wanting to learn how to play the guitar for years, and now I finally have my very own! I felt like a kid getting the ultimate toy on Christmas Eve, I was so over the top excited.

Christmas Day starts with an early get up and off to Mom and Dad's where my sister and her family also meet to open presents! It's nice that we all build on new traditions in our own homes, but meet early in the morning on Christmas day to be kids again with our parents. It's also so nice to spend the morning with the children who are always so excited!

LOVE!
No need to dream about it folks! We had a white Christmas. As you can see in my photos below, we had the perfect snow fall which makes our surroundings look like a Holiday greeting card. We've experienced all seasons now in the new house (which means we're almost at the one year mark) and I have to say they all do wonders for the look of our property! Our winter wonderland is the most enjoyable I must say, because it doesn't involve any lawn or garden maintenance and there is nothing nicer than being warm and toasty inside looking out at the snow!

... Wait, did I say one year? Oh my GOD! Time sure flies when you're having fun! It seems like just yesterday we were doing the tour around this empty place imaging what our life would be like here. Now here we are, cozy and happier than ever. We turned a year older, I settled in with a great new job and we're planning a wedding! I wonder what next year has in store for Mr and Mrs B? Can't wait to find out...

Hope your Holidays were happy!

  1. I am SO jealous. I live in Cincinnati, OH - and usually I get to see the beautiful sights of snow - and this winter - I only saw...MAYBE...1/2 of an inch - TOTAL! This is not right.... I live about 100 feet in the air in a high rise and have a view of the city skyline and trees for days, and was waiting, hoping, waiting, for some damn snow!! Beautiful photos and glad someone out there had a white Christmas!
